"Winners never quit, and Quitters never win." I bet you've heard or read that many times. It's terrible advice in 90% of the cases.
You have seen that image of the person who stopped digging just before hitting the mother-lode.
I bet you have never seen an image of the person who kept digging for their whole life and never hit the mother-lode.
The inference is that if you only keep going, you will be successful.
I'm telling you that no amount of persistence will bring you success if you are on the wrong path for you.
What you need to do instead is try a bunch of things out to discover what you have the skills for and what you like to do.
When you find what you like and have some skills in doing, you'll have a much better chance of being successful at it, and you will develop a passion for it as well.
Then you will have found your sweet spot.
That's the passion they tell you to find, and you get there by trying things and quitting those that don't fit.
I call that "Intelligent Quitting", it's not the same as giving up.
It's sensibly stopping doing what isn't working.
After all, one sign of insanity is continuing to do the same thing repeatedly while expecting a different result.
