Purely by chance I checked my bank account on Monday.

I don't check it regularly, well I didn't, but now I will.

There were nine transactions with Walmart Grocery over twenty-four hours for a total of $545.68 that I didn't make or authorise.

After an amicable discussion with the bank support team, I have a new credit card on its way to me, with a new PIN and the old one cancelled.

The bank will reimburse me for the loss, and all will be well.

OK, not a nice thing to happen, and it will all work out fine, but the same could happen to anyone at any time.

See, the thing is that this card is only used for local swipe transactions

I never give the number out to anyone at any time.

How it got hacked, I don't know.

The bank investigation will undoubtedly find out how the hacker accessed the card, and they'll let me know in a month or two.

In future, I will check my bank account at least weekly, and you may like to do the same for your accounts.

The sooner you discover malicious activity, the sooner you can stop it.

Take care and pay attention.

Regards,
Brent.
