You probably have a bunch of PDF files on your hard drive that is either PLR, MRR or public domain content, I know I do.

In recent emails I have talked about repurposing content, combining ideas from various places to create original content without all the research etc.

You also know that I picked up the Micro books series product recently.

While I was converting some of my existing PLR content to upload to the Kindle short reads area I realised that you might not know the shortcuts available to you.

I know you can buy tools to edit PDFs and that there are quite a few online tools that claim to be able to edit PDFs but I have found them to be clumsy, inaccurate, and generally way overpriced for what they actually do.

My workflow is using a couple of free tools to convert the PDF to an editable form and then edit it like any other document you would create in a drawing package.

I use LibreOffice, it's free and opens the PDF for editing quickly. Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of luck actually editing the document in LibreOffice but I accidentally discovered that when I saved the document it was saved on .odg format.

This is Open Document Graphic.

The Open Document formats are the real standard for files despite what Microsoft would have you believe.

Anyway, when you open the new document in OpenOffice, also free, it opens in the drawing package and editing is simple from there.

I tried opening the PDF directly into OpenOffice but it came in as coded text and was completely unusable.

Of course, once you have edited the document you can then export it to PDF and you're done.

You may have better luck with LibreOffice and not need the double step but that wasn't my experience.

Another quick tip to do with password protected PDFs.

If you have the password just unlock the document and then print it to PDF which will give you an unprotected document for later use.

This will work on all but the ones that have printing disabled.

For those, I use an OCR tool called TextScanner which gets me the content of the document without the formatting.

If you don't have the password you can sometimes crack it using one of the many tools online but not always.

Have fun, don't do anything illegal with this.

Regards,

Brent.

P.S.  You all know that the Black Friday sales are coming thick and fast.

You're probably already getting emails about them with some advanced notification.

One of my favourite tools is having a brilliant sale that you really shouldn't pass up.

Black Friday is almost here, and to celebrate, the team at Noble Samurai have put together their BIGGEST EVER Black Friday Mega Bundle...

...and they’ve allowed me to GIVE YOU EARLY ACCESS so you can be the very first to see this...
