Always great fun. As the poster said, "If I had known that being a grandparent was so much fun, I would have done it first." And the best thing? You can hand them back.
There is a reason that the best time to have a family is when you are young. You have more resilience and can cope better with the ongoing challenges of child raising. You are also less likely to be over protective, which is better for the kids.
Kids need to be able to explore, experiment, play without too many safety nets and generally be able to learn how to cope when things don't work out for them. Kids will do that if they are left to their own activities. They'll build stuff that fails, and they'll have another go at it and eventually learn how to build stuff that works.
Everything is a learning experience for them and something to put in their back pocket for later when they need it. Unstructured play is the best thing you can let your kids do.
The world doesn't always align with what you want. It isn't always easy, and sometimes you will fail. That's OK, failing is a positive signal. You tried to do something.
It's only ever a problem if you either refuse to try because you are afraid of failing or if you give up after failing once.
Everybody who tries to do something they have never done before will fail at some part of it if not all of it.
Even laser-guided missiles, which always hit their target within a 2m (6 ft) radius, get there by continually failing and correcting. If that weren't the case, they would always hit exactly where the laser beam was centred, but they don't. Think about it. Regards,
P.S. In any business, online or offline, you rarely get it right first time. A very rare few do, but that's pure luck. Those few usually crash very hard later because they think they are infallible. The rest of us make mistakes all the time. By correcting those mistakes we learn.
When I was training apprentices, I told them on their very first day that I expected them to make some mistakes. I didn't expect them to make the same mistake twice. Making the same mistake for the third time would result in an arse-kicking.
The difference between business and training apprentices is that apprentices are trained and mentored from day one, they get shown the correct way to do something, they are allowed to do it under supervision long before they get to do things on their own.
In business most of us never have a mentor, we get little training, we don't have someone guiding us as we do things. We have to learn on the job and learn from our mistakes as we go.
The most important thing to learn when you are starting your online business is to build your email list from the start. An email list is the only thing you can build online that you can guarantee to keep regardless of what else happens. You know I prefer ConvertKit to any other email service I have used other than Sendy. Sendy requires a bit of techy stuff to get working so I can't recommend that to any of you who don't have those skills. ConvertKit, on the other hand, is simple to set up and use. Check out the training videos here to see for yourself. |
