Many people do. So many people describe themselves as above average that average should be higher. It seems that 5 out of 4 people don't understand mathematics.
Not doing more than the average is what keeps the average down - William M. Winans. 1852 - 1920
Mr Winans was a Russian emigree to the U.K. when he was 18. There must have been family money because he doesn't appear to have had a profession other than being a professional shooter. He won gold at the 1908 Olympics in London and a silver at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm. He also wrote ten books, bred stud horses, did some sculpting and painting.
While he might have been famous as an American living in London and come out with quotable quotes, he doesn't appear to have done much else. Must have been the stud horses that kept the income coming in.
We all need a 'nice little earner' to keep the wolf from the door. Passive income is better than breeding horses. Those ten books might have generated some of that as well. Kindle is a pretty good place to sell your books these days, much more comfortable than finding a publisher and getting your books into the retailers. There are two ways to get an income from publishing Kindle books. The first one is to create a high-quality book that readers love and will share with their friends. The second one is to produce a large volume of good-quality books so that the trickle of sales you get from each book turns into a flood of sales overall. The second way is much easier; you can create each book in a day or so, when you get the right help and practice. See the P.S. for where to get the help. Regards, Brent. P.S. There are many ways to write a good book. Remember that you are not trying to write a modern masterpiece. All you are trying to do is write well enough that your book can be read and understood by most readers. If you can talk to a family member or friend and explain something to them so they can complete whatever it is successfully then you can write a book. Here's how to write one in 24 hours. |
