The big problem with that is I now need an exceptional event to open them.

I was visiting a winery on Kangaroo Island owned and operated by a fourth-generation French winemaker from the Bordeaux region.

To be honest, I didn't think much of most of the wines, but I liked one enough to buy a couple of bottles for later enjoyment.

Another customer purchased a bottle I hadn't seen so I asked about them.

A couple of bottles of shiraz that had some unique labels on them and were fundraisers for the local CFS (Country Fire Service).

The labels were photographs of the fire surrounding the vineyard and the burnt aftermath.

Volunteers operate the CFS with some government help for equipment and not much else.

So I bought one of each for the labels and the CFS.

I forgot to ask the price.

That's how I managed to buy two bottles of wine for $100 each.

I might save them for my 70th birthday celebrations.

There is a lesson in marketing for you there, though.

  • The presentation was professionally done.
  • The back story was unique and wholly believable.
  • The price was not even a question.
  • The closest I got to a bonus was a cardboard box to hold the two bottles.
  • I didn't even taste the wine, so I don't know if it is any good.

Another Shiny Object purchase? I won't know for a few years, I hope not.

Regards,
Brent.

P.S. If you want something that's not a shiny object and has a great back story, you could do far worse than checking out this link.
