The truth is that no one knows, and there are any number of people who will make out they know.

I call them the talking heads.

You see them on T.V., hear them on the radio, and read their views online or in the papers.

It's all speculation because economists, politicians or central banks do not control the economy.

You control the economy.

The people who spend the money make the economy work, and it has very little to do with interest rates or stimulus cheques.

Sure, they have an impact, but mostly the effect is the reverse of the desired outcomes.

I'm not an economist nor a financial consultant, so all of this is only what I'm thinking at the moment and could change at any time.

I know for certain that while you allow someone else to control your income, you are at risk of losing part or all of that income.

How can I know this?

I have been fired from a job five times and 'let go' three times.

I have had to close a business, and I have gone close to bankruptcy.

I know you cannot rely on other people to support you when things go wrong, and they'll be hanging around when things are going well.

Those reasons are why I persist in building my online business via email.

It's something I control. I do not have to rely on anyone else's good graces or goodwill.

It's why I continue to encourage you to do the same.

It doesn't matter if you offer your products, other people's products or a combination of the two, but you really cannot say you have a business unless you have an email list to talk to.

If you wish to argue with me or agree with me, feel free to do so.

P.S.  Because I'm fixated on controlling everything about my online business, I use the autoresponder Sendy, which is self-hosted, and uses the Amazon SES service for sending emails.

I don't expect you to do the same as it does require some technical ability, a domain name and hosting.

There are two alternative services that I also use that are very good even though they have different abilities and some problems.

TrafficWave is a fixed price autoresponder, you'll pay the same amount every month regardless of the number of email campaigns or subscribers you have, but it's a bit fiddly to use until you get used to it.

TrafficWave is the autoresponder behind the 30-minute challenge.

https://go.wm-tips.com/challenge.

The other one is the free SendSteed autoresponder from LeadsLeap.

https://sendsteed.com/?r=burtm10.

This one is easier to use but has interesting features.

Their double-opt-in is different to any other autoresponder.

You can broadcast up to 4 emails to those who haven't confirmed their email address, and any link they click in those emails auto-confirms their email address for you. No one else does this.

Subscribers who haven't opened an email from any member of SendSteed will be removed from all the lists they are in.
