Big mistake.

The writing muse only turns up when you are already writing.

Think of it as a raptor.

They circle high in the sky or perch on a high vantage point and look for movement.

They only react when they spot something moving.

If nothing moves, they wait.

The writing muse is the same, sometimes you'll get an idea when you are doing something else, such as walking on the beach or chopping wood, but all you can do is make a note of the idea and keep doing what you are doing.

Pull those ideas out of the notepad, voice recorder on your phone or however you have kept a record of it and begin writing.

That's when the muse shows up and says, "I can help you make that better".

The more you do it, the more often the muse shows up, and the better you write.

Regardless of what you have written, you have to publish it somewhere.

Write and publish daily, and you'll write better and better.

Later you can take your old work and rewrite it better and publish it again.

Eventually, you'll have a body of work that you can keep publishing over and over while it improves with every reiteration.

Collate it into books, sell it for inspiration for others.

Brent.
