Do you know what you are looking for yet? Many times people, like you and I, set out on journeys in life without a clear understanding of where we’re going or why we’re doing things. If you don’t know where you’re going, how do you know you’re not already there? When you know why you’re doing something the way often becomes clear as does the destination.
If that is important for you then how do you discover your why? Often you can get there by brainstorming and word association. When you have someone else in your inner circle, they can help you with the word association, but you don’t need help with the brainstorming. You can get a start on brainstorming by spending an hour or so beginning with writing out everything you like to do, everything you can do even if you are not good at it. Once you have done that you need to fine-tune your list to the things you would happily do for free if you didn’t need to make a living. Then do the same thing with people and causes. This one is harder because you’ll need to think hard about what inspires you. You’ll need to spend several days letting this gell in your brain until the answer comes to you, but eventually, you will understand why you should focus on putting it all together. At this stage, you have the why and the area of focus. It won’t work every time, or perhaps it won’t work when you want it to so worry away at it, and the answers will come to you. Good luck with it. Regards,
P.S. Some people have mentioned that yesterday’s email was pretty negative. I’m sorry about that, but as far as I can tell, it’s always better to be prepared for problems than to surprised by them. Being prepared for problems that don’t happen is much easier than dealing with them unprepared. A friend said to me today “don’t worry, it’ll be better when it’s over. If it’s not better, it’s not over.” I firmly believe that the future is going to be better; all we have to do is create it. |
