Because he meant to yell “Donald, duck” but he was new and he got confused.
Damn, that’s lame.
You’ll never guess where I first heard that joke though.

It was at a memorial service for my wife’s cousin.
Other interesting things I have heard at funerals.
One person started their speech with “Statistics tell us that most of you would rather be in that box where John is than up here where I am”.
Another said, of my father, that “everybody will tell you what a nice gentle person Max was.
But I’m here to tell you that he was not.
Not when he was playing tennis.
Then he was mean and nasty.”
Actually, that was quite true.
On the tennis court, he was highly competitive and did whatever he needed to do to win short of cheating.
I know, I played against him most nights over summer for about 10 years, we had a court in the backyard.
I get my sense of humour and my competitive nature from him and I’m grateful for them both.
