What do you think is the ONE quality that has the most significant impact on your ability to be successful? It's not what most people would think, but it is something that Stanford University has discovered over a 40-year study.
The quality is the ability to delay gratification. 😲
This understanding came out of the 'Marshmallow Study', https://en.wikipedia.org/wi…/Stanford_marshmallow_experiment. There has been some effort to debunk this experiment, and it's findings, https://www.theguardian.com/…/famed-impulse-control-marshma… with some success. These tests were done on quite different groups of children.
The reality is that the prior experiences of the kids have influenced their behaviour, which will also follow through in later life. A third article has some interesting observations about the original and subsequent tests. https://jamesclear.com/delayed-gratification The discussion, in the middle of this article, involves the kids pre-conditioning and their differing reactions to that conditioning.
This difference is to me, the key to the difference between the two previous experiments, and also the key for you to be able to pre-condition your kids or yourself to develop this success habit. From the conclusions in the James Clear article, there are four simple steps you can take to develop this habit yourself and improve your chances of success in all your activities.
For those of you who managed to read this far and follow the articles I linked out to, congratulations. 🎉🔥 Now leave a comment to tell me if you agree or disagree with my thinking.
Regards,
P.S. There has to be something you are good enough at to be able to make a buck online. People will buy services, tools, training, information and a host of other things that they need but are unable or unwilling to do themselves.
This is part of their lack of ability to delay gratification expressed as a desire to get things done now. |
