What do you write when you don't know what to write?

One of the most important things to do is start writing, anything really, but get the keys banging away.

Why?

Because the action of starting to write often triggers the writing, you want to do.

Then you can cut out all the dross at the beginning, and you are left with an article, blog post, email, or ebook.

Pretty cool, huh?

That's what I did with this email.

Could you tell?

You should have been able to because I left the starter dross in place so you could see how this panned out.

Of course, I write directly into Grammarly these days, and all my fluffy crap and misspelling gets converted into something more readable.

One warning, though, when you start to write, do just that, write.

If you take time to edit before completing your writing, you'll lose the flow of what you are doing, so don't do that, OK?

I played around with the A.I. writing tool, but I couldn't get it to produce anything brief enough to be helpful.

I didn't want to lumber you with a 1,000+ word email.

One other trick to help you write is to use the Pomodoro method to focus.

The idea is that you set a timer for a specified time, some use 15 minutes, and some use times out to 45 minutes.

You set the time you want, you work for that time and then take a five-minute break before you start again.

Because you have a fixed time to work and that's what you do.

Even if you only look at the screen or paper and do nothing, you can't do anything else until the timer goes off.

What happens is that you tend not to distract yourself with other stuff and the work does get done.

Let me know what you think about these ideas? Are they useful for you?

Do you have a technique that you use that works?

Regards,
Brent.

P.S. Grammarly is a tool that I use every day for every email and almost all my other writing.

Now, I don't always agree with Grammarly's corrections because it isn't always right.

Grammarly is another A.I. tool, and it is very good, just not 100% correct.

You can try it out for free here https://go.wm-tips.com/grammarly.
