Most of what you write for the Internet, be it a sales page, a video script, an email, a blog post, or even a post on social media, is attempting to persuade someone to do something.

To take some action.

Click a link, buy a product, leave a comment, click like, open a read the email, watch the video all the way through, whatever.

For most of us, persuading others to take some action doesn't come easily.

Fortunately, this is a skill that you can learn, and you'll get better as you do more.

Here are some things people get wrong when it comes to persuasive copy.

  1. It's not about the product. It's about solving a painful and persistent problem for the prospect.
  2. It's not about how well it works, it's about how good it feels after it's done.
  3. It's not about believing in the solution, it's about trusting the person telling you about it.
  4. It's not about the price, it's about the offer - why me, why you, why this, and why now?
  5. It's not about the promises, it's about the guarantees.
  6. It's not just about who this offer pleases, but it's also about who it angers.
  7. BONUS: Always give a bonus to people who do what you ask them. It works as a reinforcer on pretty much all animals.

When you keep those ideas in mind, you will write a better piece of content.

One more step, always ask them to take the action you want them to take.

Do not leave that to chance.

Brent.
