For a couple of years now, I randomly get a robocall in Chinese. Well, I'm assuming it's Chinese. I don't speak it, so I can't be sure, but it sounds like the chatter I hear in Little China here in Adelaide. I haven't yet managed to record it to get a translation done, so I have no idea what it's about. Do you get these as well? Do you know what they are about? Very curious. I also have been getting some not very creative spam calls lately. Both are again robocalls. One claims to be from the National Crime Authority, they wouldn't use a recorded message to tell you that you owe money, so it's a bit of a giveaway that it's a spam call. I suspect that the first you would know about a problem with the NCA would be the pounding on your door at 3 AM. The other claims to be from the Australian Tax Office, claiming that you owe money and the ATO will take legal action if you don't pay up. I have had issues with tax returns, and the only time they spoke to me on the telephone is after I rang them. Everything else is done by mail. The scammers are hard at work doing their best to fleece you. Should you be in the unfortunate position of getting one of these calls, your best option is to hang up. If you think there might be some issue with one of your government bodies, call them and ask. I've always found them to be very reasonable if you are taking steps to sort out any problem. Regards,
