We muddle our minds with fuzzy promises about what we should do, about what we could do.

But, there is an eternal law in place:

There is always more to get done than there will ever be time to do.

Most of your stress doesn't come from having too much to do – it comes from not honouring agreements you have made with yourself.

When you commit to doing something and then don't do it, you suffer self-doubt and annoyance.

Perhaps you can fool all of the people some of the time, or some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool yourself – EVER!

I have had this little bit of truth stuck to the back of my desk for years.

It has helped me get more done and not get stressed when I run out of time to do things.

Two things prevent you from getting stuff done.

  1. Having too much on your list to do with insufficient time allocated for each task.

  2. Being interrupted by those around you with things they see as more important.

The only one of those you can control may be the list of things to get done.

The most successful people don't have lists.

They have projects and activities within those projects.

Then they concentrate on the daily activities until they are complete.

These people understand that the only way to get a project completed is to follow the process of doing the daily activities until completion.

Following the process brings the project to completion.

If it works for them, could it also work for you?

Regards,
Brent.

P.S.  The method of breaking your project down to daily activities is explained clearly in this document.
