Well, yesterdays debacle was epic.

Not only did I fail to save and test the link in the email before I sent the email out, I then proceeded to stuff up the correction email in an attempt to fix everything.

I am currently running three autoresponders, one self-hosted - Sendy, two monthly paid - ConvertKit and TrafficWave.

Why? I hear you ask.

Sendy to keep the cost down, pay once use forever.

ConvertKit for easy integration to tools such as Convertri and ProductDyno.

ConvertKit also has the best automation system available and excellent deliverability, but they also have a variable monthly fee based on the number of subscribers you have.

TrafficWave because I bought it years ago and it has a fixed monthly fee regardless of the number of emails sent or subscribers signed up, but it's a bit of a PIA to use.

I send the same email to all subscribers on all platforms.

Which requires a little bit of juggling but it's not too bad.

The issue for yesterday was this.

All the emails are scheduled to go out at around the same time as each other, but two of them get scheduled in Australian time while one is USA EST and I forgot that we are now on Daylight Saving Time.

So, I was checking the stats in the Sendy account when I noticed that the link was wrong.

I hit the scramble button, fixed the link and wrote a quick email with the correct link and sent it immediately, to the Sendy subscribers.

All good so far, I then did the same for the TrafficWave subscribers, a bit flakey but still all good.

And here is where it gets really screwed up.

I sent the correction email to the ConvertKit subscribers before the original email had been sent. Aaaarrrrgghhh.

More scramble, sent the original email immediately after the correction email.

All I can say is that I trust you'll take a bit more care than I did yesterday.

I could have left the ConvertKit and TrafficWave emails alone, because the ConvertKit ones hadn't gone out and no-one had opened the TrafficWave ones, and the link in those is now correct.

OK, the lesson in today's out of sequence email.

Two things:-

  1. Failure/stuff-ups are not fatal.
  2. We all learn from experience, but it's faster to learn from other peoples experience.

Regards,
Brent.
