It's an accepted fact that praising people works better for behaviour change than punishment, but not always.

There has been an argument for some time around this premise.

After extended and extensive research, the results show that praise does indeed work better than punishment for behaviour change, but only until you reach your teens.

After that, it doesn't have any impact, although through your teens punishment may have a negative effect.

If you remember your teenage years, you may recall that being told not to do something pretty much guaranteed that you would do it.

Once past that rebellious stage, external praise or punishment does not affect subsequent behaviour.

The reason is that as we practise a new skill, we gradually improve.

Along the way we sometimes do better than expected and sometimes worse.

We tend to revert to the mean, that is we tend to go back to the expected behaviour after an unexpected performance.

This reversion happens regardless of being praised for extra good work or chastised for extra shoddy work.

How does this help you?

What it means for you is that as you progress down the path of online marketing, you will gradually (or rapidly) improve your skill set.

Sometimes, though, you'll do extra well and others you'll stuff up.

This is normal and nothing to be concerned about, you will keep getting better and getting better results.

Regards,
Brent.

P.S.  One issue that comes up in my emails is the lack of money to set up a website, get the tools you need or to buy traffic.

There are many places you can go to make a little extra cash, many of them can be risky, but there are also many good ones.

Here are a collection of sites that will pay you for various activities, including watching videos or listening to music.
