At least that's what I have decided for myself, and you can make up your own mind about that.
Because 2020 was such a restricted year, many people put on a bit of Covid Condition due to limited access to normal movement and possibly a bit more than normal eating or drinking.
I have been inspired by our youngest son, who has gone a fitness binge over 2020.
He cut out drinking, started riding his bicycle and eating better.
He's a chef, and chefs often eat poorly because they can't be stuffed cooking for themselves when they get home from cooking all day.
That's completely understandable.
It's the same reason the mechanic's car is often the worst one in the car park, the architects home is never quite finished, and the teacher's kids run riot.
Anyway, he's lost weight, feels so much better, and is riding at least 50km per day after work.
On the weekend he is likely to ride between 75 and 100km in a day.
Because of my age and the fact that I'm carrying several injuries from years of playing field hockey, I didn't want to do any high impact exercises, so I have opted for riding a bike and will be adding swimming plus weights later.
I rescued a bike from a house that was to be demolished last year, but it was in pretty poor condition, and I only managed to get it using 3 of the 21 gears it's supposed to have before I tried riding it.
That wasn't such a good idea, then Paul bought himself a new bike and lent me his older one.
I have set myself the activity target of riding 5 days a week.
Due to some required maintenance, I won't have the bike next week.
Today I dragged the other bike out of the shed and determined to get it running correctly.
After several hours I have a fully functioning bike ready for the 15km on Monday.
Yep, I'm not up to Paul's 50km, but I'm getting there.
Why tell you all of this?
The process I've been through is the same as building an Internet business.
Notice that the activity goal is not to ride 15km a day, it's to ride 5 days a week.
The distance is increasing each day because I ride for a set time each day, but I get to go further and faster each day because I'm building fitness.
That, my friend, is how you set and achieve goals.
Regards,
P.S. What are your goals for this year?
Do you have any?
If not, why not?
Everybody knows that the people who set goals end up closer to the life they want than the people who drift through life.
For your peace of mind, take some time to assess where you are vs where you want to be and decide what you want and what you don't want.
When you have decided what you want, choose when you want it by and then work back to the daily activities that will get you there.
Grab the PDF that lays this whole process out in simple steps to make goal-achieving as close to a certainty that it is possible to do. |
