You have probably seen stuff like this before, but you shouldn't ignore it.

Your ability to take this on board and live it will determine where you end up in the game of life.

  1. Life is not fair. Don't compare yourself to others. Envy of others is a destructive energy.

  2. You are unique. Focus on being the best person you can be and build a beautiful life for yourself. Gandhi once said, "You must be the change you want to see in the world."

  3. Invest in yourself. This will be the best investment you can ever make. The more you grow, the more opportunities you will have to take your skills to a new level. Over time, your talent will be recognised, and you will be generously rewarded.

  4. Don't be greedy - remember that "the graveyard of finance is littered with the bodies of the greedy".

  5. Remember what the "big print gives, the small print takes away". To avoid unpleasant surprises later, always have your lawyer check the finer points of any contract you make.

  6. A poor person always pays twice. Buy quality, and it will last. People with a "cheap" mentality will spend more in the long run because they are continually replacing the cheap item with another the same. They pay penalties for overdue bills because they do not have the money.

  7. Develop a savings habit early on and watch how the power of compound interest works for you.

  8. Borrow enough money so that you can sleep at night.

  9. With every investment you have to focus on the risk of loss. Most people only dream about the riches they will gain if the venture is successful and forget to estimate what they can lose if the investment goes wrong. You know that you will be happy if the investment increases, but how will you feel if you lose money? If you can handle the risk of loss, you will have increased your chances of a successful investment.

  10. Get advice from people who you respect and have been successful in the area you want more information about.

  11. Organise your estate planning and insurance. Getting these issues in order will be the first step in creating the right framework for your business affairs.

In the words of Doug Firebaugh:

"Do something every day that will bring you closer to a better tomorrow."

Building a successful life is a gradual process.

Occasionally, you get lucky, and if that luck is a function of hard work, then accept it as a just reward. If that luck is pure coincidence, then acknowledge the kind hand of fate rather than taking credit for it - this keeps you on the ground.

Overconfidence can bring fleeting success, but it is a great obstacle to lasting success.

There is no such thing as a level playing field. Every child is born with certain advantages and disadvantages. Inherited wealth without the right context and without education could be a significant disadvantage!

The qualities that make you who you are and your children what they are are part of your family legacy. Financial wealth is also part of it like your athleticism, your musical ability, your gift for mathematics.

Money does not define a legacy; it is merely a resource. The ability to use that resource to live a self-fulfilling and productive life - that is a real legacy.

I hope this has provided you with the means to attract and retain enough wealth in your life so that you can live on your terms.

Little by little, you will build a beautiful life for yourself, and I sincerely hope that this will help you on your journey through life.

Regards,
Brent.
