I've watched this event intermittently for the last ten years, and these athletes never cease to amaze me.

This year it's even more interesting because I'm now riding my bicycle as often as possible.

It's winter here, which means rain and cold.

Nothing like the rain or cold those of you in northern Europe or the north of the USA and Canada experience every year because we do not get temperatures approaching freezing more than once or twice during winter.

Today barely climbed above 12 degrees Centigrade (53F).

The morning was wet and included hail, but I was surprised to see the afternoon cleared up and the roads dried out, so I took advantage and went for a ride.

On one of the long downhill sections, I managed to reach 42 kph (26 mph).

My average for the 32 km (20 miles) was 18.2 kph.

Last night's Tour section was 160 km over which they averaged 44 kph, with the sprinters at the end reaching nearly 70 kph.

OK, there is a big difference between their bikes and mine. At least $10k difference.

They are all at least 30 years younger than me and have some of the best training and medical support available.

The gap is not something that I aspire to cross.

It is enlightening, though, now that I know how much effort I put in to ride the distances I do.

That's the difference between professionals and rank amateurs.

It's the same with any marketing you do.

The professionals have better everything than the amateurs and get better results as a result, but they didn't start there, did they?

Like all sports and businesses, all the superstars began close to the same level as those they left behind.

Brent.

P.S.  I'll never be a superstar in cycling, but I will reach the goals I've set for myself because I will continue pushing myself every day that I can to do that little bit better.

I do the same in my Internet business, I push a little harder each day, and my skill levels increase as a result.

I'm not more talented than you. I just have been doing this longer and have more experience.

I'm trying to help you shortcut the time it has taken me by sharing what works for me now, not what worked for some other person a year or so ago.

That's why I keep banging on about building your email list.

I know that this is the first step in building your Internet empire (is that too big? — let's go with business).

The best two currently are TrafficWave, a paid service that has a fixed and very reasonable price. https://link.wm-tips.com/tw.

The best free one is SendSteed because it has no limits https://sendsteed.com/?r=burtm10.

There are plenty of others so if you already have one, use that.

The best tool to use is the one you have.
