Today was a glorious day. The weather was clear, the temperature was comfortable, and our commitments had fallen by the wayside. About 5 pm, I suggested to my wife that we should head for the beach with a bottle of bubbly and pick up fish & chips on the way. She agreed that I had come up with a brilliant idea, so off we went. It's quite a distance to our favourite fish & chip shop, but it also happens to be near the beach. I figured that we could sit and watch the sunset while fanging down on some excellent seafood and bubbles, no ulterior motive on my part at all, just a nice time together. Today it's Tuesday. The chippy was shut. We tried another one relatively close. It was also shut. One advantage of a smartphone and the Internet is that you can check some of these things out beforehand or later if you need to. We went with later and discovered that the only chippy open for miles around was the one 3 minutes from home. Well, we did still get fish & chips for our tea, but we went home to eat them, and we still opened the bubbles, but the sun had already set by then, so it didn't work out like I originally planned. Another time then.
Not everything works, so if/when you have a campaign that fails, it's normal. It doesn't mean the method you are using is a dud. It doesn't mean that you are a dud. All it means is that the keywords you used didn't suit the product or the audience, or both. Test something else. Test another traffic source. Test different keywords. Test a different product. I know that it seems that some marketers have a successful launch every time. Sometimes that's because they manage to get tens of thousands of eyeballs on their sales page. Sometimes it's because you never see their duds. They are often tested under the radar until they convert, and then they get launched. The methods are simple, but making them work isn't always easy. This one is simple to follow, and you'll be more likely to get some success with this than almost any other you can try. |
