The biggest challenge for most people is not so much knowing what to do or how to do it. There is a myriad of YouTube videos on almost any subject. There are thousands of people who are only too willing to tell you what to do. There are very few people who tell you exactly what to do and when.
I think you get the message. You only need to learn about a tool or an activity when you need to do it, not before.
Far too many people try to tell you what you need to do based on where they are in the I.M. process, not where you are in the process. I'm sure I have been guilty of this myself, and I apologise for that. 👋 There are people in this email list who are well advanced and others who are just beginning. If this email gets too long, I may have to flow into the next but bare with me, and we'll see how it goes.
As you know the way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. The challenge is which bit to start on and where to finish. This email is about where to start a project and how to finish it. There are four schools of thought on where to start. Some say follow your passion while some say start with a profitable market some others say start with a product and the final group say you should start with a group of people. Which one of these work?
All of them.
The first step in all of these is research.
You need to research the market, the products and the people who are likely to buy the product. That means that the first bite of the elephant is to learn how to research. The research will inform you of the market, what sells, who buys it, who the companies are who sell the most and how they do that. Where their traffic comes from, how much traffic they are getting. What product they sell and how profitable they are.
When you know that you are well on your way to building a profitable business. Chew hard; you'll get the next bite tomorrow if you want it. Let me know by replying to this email if you want the rest.
Regards,
P.S. One thing you will need for this research is Market Samurai. I just checked to see how long I have had and used this product. I used it before this date, but I paid for it on 17th Sept 2009. It's the same price now as it was then. I still get updates as things change online, so the makers are keeping their software relevant and useful. You can't say that about many companies. They also have an excellent collection of training videos to teach you how to use it to get the best results.
Anyway, I use this whenever I need to do market research. I start with this, and it directs me to further research.
Take it out for a test drive, if you like it, buy it.
