Goal setting suffers from survivorship bias. We assume that the winners were the ones who set the goal to win, and the others didn't, but that's not true. No-one goes to the Olympics to compete; they all go with dreams of winning gold. 🥇 After all, they are the best in their country in that sport. The difference is in the training they did before turning up. It's too late to up your training regime the day before the competition. It's also about knowing what your main competitors are doing and where they are in the process.
It's the same in business.
Most business people have the same or similar goals. None of them plans to struggle or go broke.
The problem is that most people who set goals for any part of their life set them incorrectly. They set the goal, get a burst of energy and hit everything for a day, a week, a month or even a year, but without a sound system in place, they often fall over.
What is the real difference between those who go on to success and those who don't?
It can be traced back to being in love with the goal and not the process or system to achieve that goal. Use goals for planning your progress and systems are great for actually making progress.
Fall in love with the system, not the goal. Once you have the system in place and you are following it, if things don't head in the right direction, you can fine-tune the system.
Regards,
P.S. One great system you can use to make sure you can reach the goals you set is the system promoted by Tony Shepherd in his Build a Super-Responsive List report.
What you'll learn to do in this report is how to make sure that the list you build will be engaged with you, and buy what you offer them. You'll learn how to build the list the right way, why you should do your best to prevent some people from joining your list in the first place. You'll also find out what type of content to write, so you never struggle to work out what to write each day. Go here for Tony's Super Responsive list report. 👈🏼
