My local council are replacing my driveway for free. 🥰

As you know, I'm on holiday. 

I've been away for three weeks now and travelled several thousand kilometres.

Last week we got a phone call from friends who happened to drive past our home and saw a person sawing our concrete driveway.

We knew that the local council was planning to put in a new footpath across the front of our property, but we didn't know when.

So, they planned to take out our driveway, put in the footpath and rebuild our driveway.

I rang them to find out what was going to happen and explained that the driveway was already steep enough and difficult to put the caravan away.

Their response was to decide not to make any changes, fill the saw cuts and leave it all alone.

But..

The local council officer called around to see what had happened and declared that filling the cuts would not be a good option.

They would remove all the concrete and replace it entirely.

They would also shape the sides to suit the footpath, and they would make the driveway as shallow as possible.

Big win for us.

I was planning to replace and repair the concrete after the footpath was in anyway. 

The council will save me about $10,000.  🤣

Nice.

Should be complete before we get home.

P.S. I watched a video recently where the makers were claiming to be able to build and rank a website with content only, no backlinks.

Since I built a website once, about five years ago, and deliberately didn't put a single backlink to it, I knew that their statement was B.S.

If you don't have ANY backlinks, that includes a sitemap, pinging, listing your sitemap on Google or Bing or any other links inbound, then none of the spiders can find you, and you cannot rank or get traffic.

What I didn't know was how they were creating their backlinks, I knew they had to have some, but I didn't know where.

So I researched and watched a heap of their videos until I found it.

When they write their content, they also post videos on a YouTube channel, and they promote on Pinterest.

You have to have backlinks, or you cannot rank.

Backlinks will also bring you direct traffic, so it's a double whammy effect.

Traffic and time on your site increase your SEO benefits.

It all starts with good content, then backlinks.

Rinse and repeat.
