On August 11th 2020, Google changed the rules about cross-domain cookie usage. Now it's banned by default, even if you are linking to a subdomain from your main website. Why is that a problem for your affiliate links? When your visitor clicks your affiliate link and goes to the product website, your cookie may not be saved on that third-party website. That means a purchase may not be credited to you, and you will not get a commission for your efforts. One fix is for the affiliate program owners to update their cookie parameters to allow cross-domain usage, but there is no guarantee that they'll do this quickly or at all. The best solution is for you only ever to send traffic to a landing page and get those people on your email list. The lead magnet you use could complement the product you want to sell and act as a pre-sell for that product. The link in the lead magnet goes directly to the sales page for the product by-passing the cross-domain cookie issue completely. Another lead magnet may also provide good but incomplete information on the product or general information about the product subject. In this instance, the thank you page is a pre-sell for the product. The pre-sell would be in the form of a review or similar. Use your imagination for other ways you can sort this out.
